Maryland’s legal profession will once again recognize outstanding legal reporting. The Maryland State Bar Association’s Public Awareness Committee is sponsoring the 2002 Gavel Awards Competition honoring legal reporting that enhances the public’s understanding of our legal system and provides the community with insight into law-related topics.
The 2002 Gavel Awards is open to members of the Maryland media community, including magazines, newspapers, radio, television and trade publications. Entries should include law-related stories produces, published or broadcast between January 1 and December 31, 2001. A panel of independent judges selected by the MSBA will review all entries in each category and decide winners based on their subject matter, originality, style, objectivity, creativity and accordance with the purpose of the competition.
First place winner will receive $100 award with an inscribed walnut gavel, second place winner receive a certificate of merit. First place winners will be recognized during the Maryland State Bar Association’s Annual Meeting in Ocean City, Maryland in June. The deadline for entries is FRIDAY, MARCH 22, 2002.
