MSBA Unveils Bar Brief
By Janet
Stidman Eveleth
In September, MSBA will unveil Bar Brief, its new electronic
newsletter. This most recent MSBA exclusive membership service will keep
members abreast of the latest Association news and issues, calendar of
events, meetings, law practice tips and alerts on breaking news that
Maryland attorneys need to know. The monthly electronic newsletter will
serve as a valuable communication resource, briefly and expediently
informing members about MSBA activities and “hot” legal trends. This “news
in brief” e-newsletter complements MSBA’s other publications and enhances
the Association’s communication with its members.
Bar Brief,
which will be e-mailed to MSBA members on the first of every month, is an
excellent addition to the wealth of electronic information available on
MSBA’s website, www.msba.org. It will also supplement the
comprehensive legal news found in the Bar Bulletin, the
Association’s print newsletter which is issued on the 15th of
each month. Essentially, Bar Brief will be a newly designed
expansion of the Announce List MSBA recently launched to remind
members about upcoming MICPEL educational sessions and MSBA programs and
events. All MSBA communication vehicles are popular with MSBA members.
“Bar
Brief is the latest in a long line of services MSBA offers to its
members,” reports Paul V. Carlin, MSBA’s Executive Director.
“Communication is the hub of all association activities. With so little
time, the trend now is to communicate quickly and briefly. Bar Brief
will provide brief announcements and notices and will link readers to
MSBA’s website as well as other sites to provide more information for
those seeking it.”
“Bar
Brief will only be available to MSBA members,” Carlin adds. “MSBA will
continue to devise new electronic programs and expand the ones we have but
will closely follow our members’ preferences and inclinations to receive
data electronically.”
Bar Brief
will indeed present news in “brief” and the information will be timely and
relevant. The format of Bar Brief will be short, news-oriented and
easy to read. Links to helpful websites for additional information where
appropriate
All members who have shared their e-mail addresses with MSBA will
automatically receive a copy of Bar Brief once a month. A member
may opt out but MSBA encourages you to try it out first. To date, members
have embraced MSBA’s Announce List; few have chosen to opt out. In
fact, many members have called MSBA to provide their e-mail addresses so
that they may receive it. To make certain that you receive the Bar
Brief, your e-mail must be on file with MSBA’s Membership Department.
Please send your name and e-mail address to the Membership Department at
membership@msba.org.
MSBA continually strives to keep members informed, and Bar Brief,
combined with the Association’s many publications and its extensive
website, is its latest effort to enhance communication with all MSBA
members. In today’s high-tech world, communication is vital for all
attorneys. Please let us know what you think of our latest communication
effort. We are always interested in our members’ views.
Bar Brief
will be sent as both html and text files. Thus, for those members whose
e-mail does not allow for html, it will come through as a text file. For
additional information on MSBA’s new Bar Brief, refer to MSBA’s
website or contact Pat Yevics at (410) 685-7878.
