Mimi L. Magyar has joined the Rockville-based law firm of Shulman, Rogers, Gandal, Pordy & Ecker, P.A., as Of Counsel.  Magyar is a member of the firm’s Commercial Litigation Department where she focuses her practice on domestic relations law.

McGuireWoods LLP has appointed Alan C. Cason to be the managing partner in the law firm’s Baltimore office. Cason is a member of the firm’s Financial Services Department where he focuses his practice on public finance, municipal law and government relations.

William M. Shipp, a partner in the law firm of Fossett & Brugger, has been awarded the first Reginald L. Dunn Education Legacy Award by the Prince George’s County Board of Education.  Shipp focuses his practice in the areas of real estate, land use and business law.

Adam L. Schless has joined the law firm of Ober Kaler as an associate.  Schless focuses his practice on commercial financing with an emphasis on negotiating and documenting financing and leasing transactions.

The Legal and Financial Division of Israel Bonds has presented Lawrence A. Shulman, founding partner of the Rockville-based law firm of Shulman, Rogers, Gandal, Pordy & Ecker, P.A., with the State of Israel Bonds City of Peace Award.

Whiteford, Taylor & Preston, LLP, partner Mary Claire Chesshire has been named to Villa Julie College’s Board of Trustees.

Andrew H Baida, the Solicitor General of the Maryland Attorney General’s Office, has left government service to join the Baltimore law firm of Rosenberg, Proutt, Funk and Greenberg, LLP, where he will focus his practice on appellate litigation and administrative law.

Robert R. Niccolini, a partner in the Baltimore office of McGuireWoods, LLP, has been appointed as chairman of the Maryland Committee on Mentoring by the Labor and Employment Section of the American Bar Association.

New officers elected to the Board of Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service include: President Robert S. Brennen, a partner with the Baltimore office of Miles & Stockbridge; Vice President Jerald B. Lurie, an attorney with Adelberg, Rudow, Dorf & Hendler in Baltimore; Vice President M. Natalie McSherry, an attorney with Whiteford, Taylor & Preston in Baltimore; Secretary Louis W. Hargrave, Vice President of Bank of America, Private Bank; and Treasurer Barron J. Stroud, Jr., partner with the Baltimore Office of McCarter & English. New Board members are Mary Elizabeth Kaslick, an attorney in Frederick; Kathleen H. Meredith, a partner with Iliff & Meredith in Severna Park; and Christopher R. Rahl, Vice President and Counsel for Provident Bank of Maryland.

Randall M. Lutz, Member and Chair of the Environmental Department at the Maryland law firm of Hodes, Ulman, Pessin & Katz, P.A., has been appointed to the Governor’s Task Force to Study Access to Mental Health Services.
