Baltimore City Paralegal Association, Inc.
By Donna L. Kahoe

In March 2002, the Baltimore City Paralegal Association, Inc., (BCPA) was formed to fill the need for a professional organization in the Baltimore City area for local-area paralegals and supporters. BCPA’s mission is to provide a forum to represent paralegals and their interests in all areas of the law, networking opportunities and continuing legal education.

While still in its infancy, association membership has more than doubled. BCPA holds monthly membership meetings on the first Wednesday of each month at noon at the offices of McGuireWoods, LLP, 7 Saint Paul Street, Suite 1000, Baltimore, Maryland  21202. Each month a different speaker is invited to provide an educational opportunity for our members on both professional and personal levels. In the past year we have brought in speakers such as Pamela J. White (former MSBA President), Hon. Grace G. Connelly (Register of Wills for Baltimore County), Elaine Foard (Director of Development & Special Events for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Maryland Affiliate), and Susan F. Burger (Executive Director, CASA). BCPA has already scheduled some interesting speakers for 2003, including Margo Bennett of T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc., who will speak on “Women and Investing” in January and Thomas Spahn, Esquire, of McGuireWoods, LLP, who will speak on the topic of Ethics in February.

BCPA members consist of a diverse group of paralegals employed by a vast array of businesses throughout the City of Baltimore. They specialize in many areas of the law and are employed in many different environments, ranging from small general or specialized law firms to very large litigation law firms, corporations and government agencies. This collection of experience and expertise provide an invaluable resource for paralegals and their employers.

If you are interested in finding out more information about BCPA, please e-mail us at bcpa21203@yahoo.com.

Thank you
Donna L. Kahoe, Litigation Paralegal                                                                        T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc.
