MSBA Parliamentarian Carl S. Silverman has joined the law firm of Goldman & Vetter, P.A., as Of Counsel. Silverman brings to the firm 25 years of experience in traditional labor law, employment relations, workplace litigation and administrative practice.

John B. Frisch, a 20-year veteran of the law firm of Miles & Stockbridge P.C., has been elected the firm’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. A principal in the firm’s Baltimore office and previously Vice Chairman of the firm, Frisch focuses on mergers and acquisitions, securities and other corporate transactional matters.

Stephen M. Goldberg has become a member of the law firm of Tydings & Rosenberg LLP, bringing over 20 years of experience representing clients in bankruptcy and other insolvency proceedings, commercial litigation, financing and other business-related transactions. Cheri H. Dorsey, Dana Alan Gausepohl and Allison J.B. Eriksen have also joined the firm as associates. Dorsey practices in the areas of estate planning, estate administration and probate, while Gausepohl focuses on litigation, with emphasis on products liability defense and labor and employment matters. Eriksen concentrates her practice in the areas of commercial litigation, employment law and matters of bankruptcy/creditors’ rights.

Meyers, Rodbell & Rosenbaum, P.A., announces that Edward S. Marin has become a principal in the firm’s Rockville office.

Paul Walter, a senior partner with the law firm of Tydings & Rosenberg LLP, has been appointed to a three-year term on the Health and Educational Council Advisory Board of the United Nations’ International Council for Caring Communities (ICCC). The ICCC is a not-for-profit organization that has Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and is committed to the principle that private enterprises and individuals can help society improve communities and social public activities.

Stuart O. Simms has joined the Baltimore-based law firm of Brown, Goldstein & Levy, LLP as a partner. Simms, who spent the last five years as Secretary of the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services, served as the State’s Attorney for Baltimore City from 1987 to 1995. He intends to focus his practice on business litigation, legislative governmental affairs, government contracting and procurement, and issues related to technology in law enforcement, with a special emphasis on homeland security.

Caroline D. Ciraolo has become a principal in the law firm of Martin, Snyder & Bernstein, P.A. Ciraolo concentrates her practice in the areas of criminal and civil tax controversy and litigation.

Karp, Frosh, Lapidus, Wigodsky & Norwind, P.A., announces that Michael L. Subin has become “Of Counsel” in the firm’s Rockville office. Subin is an adjunct professor at his alma mater, the Washington College of Law. Richard T. Tomar has also joined Karp Frosh, and will Chair the firm’s commercial litigation division.

Jefferson L. Triplett has joined Saul Ewing LLP as an associate in the Bankruptcy and Reorganization Department in the law firm’s Baltimore office. Prior to joining Saul Ewing, Triplett served on active duty in the U.S. Navy in support of Operation Enduring Freedom at the Office of Naval Intelligence.

Baltimore Mayor Martin O’Malley recently presented the law firm Ober Kaler with a “Mayor’s Citation,” acknowledging the firm’s involvement with the Maryland Mentoring Partnership (MMP), the state’s largest full-service youth mentoring organization. Through MMP, volunteers from the firm participate in a literacy tutoring program at the Thomas G. Hayes Elementary School in Baltimore City.

Cynthia M. Macsherry, coordinator of internships for the paralegal department at Villa Julie College, has been elected president of the Maryland Association of Paralegals (MAP). She will serve as MAP president until November 2004.

Ober Kaler associate Charles A. Diorio has been called to active duty with the U.S. Coast Guard. Diorio, a Lieutenant Commander, is the first member of the firm to be called to active duty. He expects to remain stateside during his deployment.
