MSBA Membership Updates
By Janice Jones-Branch
ENCOURAGE A STUDENT, PARALEGAL OR LAW OFFICE
ASSISTANT OR ADMINISTRATOR TO BECOME AN MSBA ASSOCIATE MEMBER
MSBA associate membership was developed to encourage
the participation of law students, law office assistants and law
office administrators in the MSBA. Most MSBA publications, Sections,
departments and vendor discounts are available to Associate Members.
Student associate members particularly benefit from
free membership in the Young Lawyers Section. The Young Lawyers
Section sponsors the Career Center, which includes an electronic
system that connects employers and recruiters with lawyers,
paralegals, law clerks and administrative assistants.
All MSBA Practice Sections are open for Associate
Members to join. Many offer events, activities and newsletters that
can assist students and legal professionals with expanding
professional knowledge and development.
MSBA associate membership requires sponsorship by a
current MSBA member (with the exception of law students). To request
an associate membership application for a colleague ($50-$75 annual
fee) or student ($25 annual fee) that you know, call the MSBA
Membership Department at (410) 685-7878. Associate and Section
membership applications can also be processed online
here..
NOTICE TO ALL MARYLAND ATTORNEYS WHO SERVE THE ASIAN COMMUNITY
The Korean Bar Committee Email List is a great
resource for lawyers who serve the Asian community. Join in
conversations that will keep you updated on legislative issues,
committee projects and law practice issues. To join, e-mail
ekim@wtplaw.com.
DO YOU HAVE A COURTHOUSE ID BADGE?
MSBA Courthouse ID Badges allow for easier access to
Maryland’s courthouses. But the MSBA cannot issue badges for you on
the spot; the process can take a few weeks, so apply for your badge
before you need it! Go to www.msba.org and look under “Member
Services” for information on obtaining your ID Badge, or call the MSBA
at (410) 685-7878.
