The American Bar
Association has re-elected
Paul Mark Sandler as Secretary of its Section of Litigation. Sandler, a lawyer with the firm
Shapiro, Sher, Guinot & Sandler, is responsible for the Section's national
policies and documenting the Committee's yearly activities.

A. Braxton, an

Saul Ewing LLP has
announced an agreement in principle to merge with the Washington, D.C.-based
firm Schmeltzer, Aptaker & Shepard, P.C., which specializes in labor and
employment law. The merge is subject to final partner and shareholder approval
by each firm. The combination is expected to be completed by the first of
October and they will operate under the title of Saul Ewing LLP.

Magazine
conducted a survey of general counsels in Fortune 250 companies and announced
that McGuireWoods, LLP, has tied for third place among the top 14 firms cited
for their litigation practice.
