Michele Zavos, a Maryland attorney and Fellow of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys, has been named a 2009 Angel in Adoption by U.S. Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton.

Kathleen Tabor has been appointed by Governor Martin O’Malley to the Maryland Horse Industry Board to serve as the representative of “Equine Trade and Support Industries”.

The Baltimore Conservatory Association, an organization that supports the Howard Peters Rawlings Conservatory and Botanic Gardens in Druid Hill Park, elected Emily J. Alt, a real estate attorney at Ballard Spahr LLP, to their Board.

Bettina Guevara, the 2007-2008 Maryland Hispanic Bar Association President, was presented with the 2009 Governor’s Award for Public Service by the Governor’s Commission on Hispanic Affairs.

Sidney Butcher

The Bar Association of Baltimore City selected Sidney Butcher as its Presidential Award Winner.

Jeffrey A. Wothers, the Managing Partner at Niles Barton & Wilmer, LLP, was appointed to the Board of Directors of Carroll Hospital Center, a nonprofit, acute care facility in Carroll County.

The Maryland Hispanic Bar Association installed their 2009-2010 officers, including Sylvia Ontaneda-Bernales as President; Diego Rojas as President-Elect; Elizabeth Ysla Leight as Secretary; Joaquin M. Sequeira as Treasurer; and Joseph L. Morales as Immediate Past President.

Gordon, Feinblatt, Rothman, Hoffberger & Hollander, LLC, re-elected Barry F. Rosen to serve a fifth five-year term as the firm’s Chairman and CEO.

Gregg L. Bernstein

The American College of Trial Lawyers inducted Gregg L. Bernstein as a Fellow.  Bernstein is a partner in the Baltimore office of Zuckerman Spaeder, LLP.

Melissa Kenney Ngaruri joined Patrick Hoover Law Offices as a new associate.  The firm also moved to 401 N. Washington Street, Suite 900, Rockville, Maryland 20850.

Bowie & Jensen selected Nicole Windsor to lead the firm’s Employment Law practice.

Kevin B. McCoy has been promoted to partner at Kruchko & Fries. The firm has offices in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia.
