Allison L. Asti

Richard Granat received the Louis M. Brown Lifetime Achievement Award for Legal Access.  The award, given by the American Bar Association Standing Committee on the Delivery of Legal Services, recognized Granat's more than five decades of exploration of technology for legal services. Granat is the president and founder of DirectLaw, Inc.

MSBA Past President Alison L. Asti has joined The McCammon Group, a mid-Atlantic provider of mediation, arbitration and related dispute resolution services.  Asti is the president of Asti Strategic Advisors, LLC.

Valerie M. Nowottnick, owner of Paralegal Consultants, received the "Certified Paralegal" certification from the National Association of Legal Assistants.

Michael A. Brown, Deborah K. St. Lawrence Thompson and Michael E. Blumenfeld joined Miles & Stockbridge, P.C.

Benjamin A. Kelley

Ballard Spahr associate Benjamin A. Kelley was elected Vice Chair of the Executive Committee of the Equal Justice Associates, a private-bar fundraising and networking arm of The Maryland Legal Aid Bureau. Robert A. Scott, a Litigation Department counsel at Ballard Spahr, was appointed Chair of the American Bar Association's National Subprime Crisis Subcommittee.

Hyatt & Weber added Lisa Mannisi to its Litigation practice.

Jeremy Garner was promoted to lead the Business Tax practice at Bowie & Jensen.

Ober Kaler has added several associate attorneys to its firm.  Christopher P. Dean joined the firm's Health Law group.  Elizabeth J. Cappiello and Jack R. Daley joined the Litigation group.  And Kathleen A. McGinley joined the Employment & Labor group.

Robert A. Scott

The law firm Thomas, Thomas & Hafer named Michael H. Burgoyne a partner in their Baltimore office.

Jeanne Phelan was added as a partner to the Labor and Employment practice at DLA Piper's Baltimore office.

The Law Offices of Anne Hoke, Esq., L.L.C. have changed the firm's name to Anne Hoke & Associates. The firm also added Steven J. Sturm as an associate. Sturm will focus on workers' compensation, personal injury and medical malpractice.
