From the MSBA President
Michael J. Baxter & Mary Baxter
Nestled between the azure waters of the Caribbean Sea and the crystal blue Atlantic Ocean, St. Kitts is a lush tropical secret.
Whether you haven’t been to a Maryland State Bar Association mid year meeting for a while, or you go every year, you don’t want to miss this. Join us at a first time locale for the MSBA in a island respite from the gray days of Maryland winter.
We’ll stay at the luxurious St. Kitts Marriott, located right on the beach on the Atlantic. Only ten minutes from the airport, it features on-site golf at the Royal St. Kitts Golf Club, tennis, a full service spa and fitness center, and a casino. The gentle Caribbean sea is an easy walk or a quick shuttle away. In the evening join in on “Dine Around”, for a variety of fine al fresco dining at wonderful local restaurants, all conveniently located within minutes of the Marriott. St. Kitts is authentic Caribbean: gracious and gorgeous.
When the beach doesn’t beckon, visit the Brimstone Fortress National Park. Built by the British in 1690, it is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Guided treks to local rain forests surrounding Mt. Liamuiga, an island volcanic crater, are available, as are exhilarating zip lines above the canopy. Or sit back and enjoy the view on the St. Kitts Scenic Railway, an open air train that circles the island. Snorkeling, scuba, kayaking, deep sea fishing - it’s all here. And for those with real wanderlust, the sister island of Nevis is a 30 minute ferry ride away. No traffic lights and sans tourist, it is a throwback to the original Caribbean experience.
Maryland lawyers, judges, friends and family, put this trip on you calendar now. We will offer CLE in a casual setting, a children-friendly environment, and activities for everyone. Please join us in this corner of paradise for a week of camaraderie and relaxation.
