Voter Election Protection Training — 6:00-8:00 pm — The Alliance, in partnership with the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, will be conducting a 2-hour  training for lawyers, law students and paralegals to serve as hotline call center volunteers on or before Election Day and to participate in a legal field deployment on Election Day to ensure the process is running properly in neighboring states.

Black History Month Celebration

Every Tuesday in February from 12:15-1:30 pm, the Alliance of Black Women Attorneys, in collaboration with the Historical Committee of the Bar Association of Baltimore City, the Baltimore Bar Library Foundation, the Monumental City Bar Association and Merrill Lad, will present a legal lecture sponsored by the Museum of Baltimore Legal History.

The lectures will take place at the Clarence M. Mitchell, Jr. Courthouse, Room 504. Limited seating is available and lunch will be provided.

The Alliance of Black Women Attorneys and the Monumental Bar Association are co-sponsoring a health and wellness event at the MAC, Harbor East.  The event will include a “Prep Time for Success” discussion identifying specific planning strategies to incorporate exercise, nutrition, and well initiatives into our routines.  Following the “Prep Time for Success” discussion, members will participate in a boxing class that will improve your speed, agility, quickness, endurance and strength.  For information please contact Taren Stanton at taren.stanton@gmail.com

The Alliance of Black Women Attorneys, in collaboration with the Monumental City Bar Association, the Maryland LGBT Bar Association, the Hispanic Bar Association, the Waring Mitchell Bar Association, and the Asian Pacific American Bar Association, will be hosting an event titled “So you want to be a Judge --- Demystifying the Judicial Appointment Process.  The event is also co-sponsored by Justice at Stake. The event will be held at the Clarence Mitchell Courthouse, 110 S. Calvert Street, Courtroom 200 beginning at 6:00 p.m.  A wine and cheese networking reception in the Kaplan Court will immediately follow the panel discussion.

Justice at Stake presents a panel discussion titled “Path to the Bench” from 5:00-6:00 pm at the University of Baltimore School of Law located at 1420 N. Charles Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21201.  Judges will speak candidly about life on the bench, paths to the bench, and powerful ways to establish oneself in the legal profession. The event is open to all, and will make special effort to encourage women, people of color, and members of the LGBT community to consider judicial clerkships and internships.  The panel discussion will be followed by a Networking Reception from 6:00-7:30 pm. The event is hosted by Alicia L. Wilson.  Hamburgers, hotdogs, Italian sausages, chicken, beverages, etc. will be provided.  Please  bring your favorite side dish (e.g. pasta salad, potato salad, chips, dessert, etc.) to share and a prospective member.

Bell and will have keynote remarks from Judge Marcella Holland.
