EVENTS
MCBA Monthly Meeting The general membership meeting will be
held on Thursday, November 13, 2003 at 5:30 p.m. at the Legal Aid Bureau,
Second Floor. Congressional staffers from Sen. Barbara Mikulski’s Office
will bring greetings and discuss topics of interest to MCBA. Remember to
pay your $50.00 annual dues.
MCBA Happy Hour & Membership Drive The next MCBA Happy Hour &
Membership Drive will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2003. Time and place
to be determined. The event will recognize Judge Marcella A. Holland’s
appointment as Administrative Judge, Circuit Court for Baltimore City. Happy
hour drink specials and food for your enjoyment!
MCBA Thanksgiving Food Drive Help us feed families during
Thanksgiving. Please bring your food donations (non-perishable) to the Legal
Aid Bureau, 500 East Lexington Street, and place them in the donation box on
the first floor near the reception desk. Donations will be accepted between
9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. from November 10th thru November 24th.
MCBA Holiday Gala Mark your calendars for Friday, December 12,
2003 for the Annual MCBA Holiday Gala. The Gala will be held at the Pimlico
Club House, Hall of Fame Room, 5201 Park Heights Avenue, Baltimore, MD
21215, from 9:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. Tickets are $60.00 in advance and $65.00
at the door. There will be dancing, all-night buffet, premium open bar, and
silent auction for your enjoyment.
MCBA Christmas Gift Drive Help us provide families with gifts
during Christmas. Please bring your gifts to the Legal Aid Bureau, 500 East
Lexington Street, and place them in the donation box on the first floor near
the reception desk. Donations will be accepted between 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
from December 1st thru December 22nd.

Maryland’s First Black Lawyers On Thursday, November 6, 2003,
the Enoch Pratt Free Library will officially open the African American
Reading Room at the new annex to the Central Library, 400 Cathedral Street.
Prof. Larry Gibson's exhibit "Maryland's First Black Lawyers: 1877-1977"
will be on display. The opening reception will be held on Thursday, November

WLC Annual Meeting & Awards Ceremony The Women’s Law Center of
Maryland, Inc. is having its Annual Meeting & Awards Ceremony on Wednesday,

own Judge Marcella A. Holland is the recipient of the Rosalyn B. Bell Award

Congratulations to Sandra Holmes as the October 2003 MCBA’s Member of
the Month. Sandra has given the MCBA countless hours of volunteer
services both as a member and officer. She now serves MCBA as its Immediate
Past President, in addition to serving on the MCB Foundation and the MICPEL
Board of Trustees as MCBA’s representative. Without question, Sandra
