This Committee recommends
a Legislative Program to MSBA’s Board of Governors on an annual basis which
addresses issues such as tort reform, mandatory sentencing, funding of the
legal system, judicial elections and regulation of the legal profession. It
provides historical background and recommends positions on the issues to the
BOG, and, upon its approval, the Program is posted on MSBA’s website. During
the legislative session the Committee meets regularly and reviews proposed
bills which have impact on the practice of law and the administration of
justice in Maryland. It solicits information from MSBA Sections and
Committees and recommends positions on the proposed legislation to the BOG
