Nominating Committee Recommends
New Council Members
The Nominating Committee of the ADR Section has released its slate of
nominees for election to the Section Council at the Annual Meeting in Ocean
City. The Nominating Committee consisted of Section Chair Melanie Vaughn,
Immediate Past Chair Roger Wolf, and Vice Chair Bob Park, Jr., who served as the
Committee’s Chair.
The Committee’s recommendations for Officers and Council members for
2002-2003 are:
- Officers: Under the ADR Section By-Laws, as Chair and Vice-Chair this
year, respectively, Melanie Vaughn will become the Immediate Past Chair and Bob
Park, Jr. will become the Chair for the coming year. In addition, the Committee
is nominating Trish Miller (our current Secretary) as Vice-Chair and Jonathan
Rosenthal (a current Section Council member) as Secretary for the coming year.
- Council Members: For the coming year, there are 4 seats on the Council to
be filled by election. Those are the 4 seats that were originally for 2 years
when the ADR Section was created in June 2000. The four seats are currently
occupied by Mike McWilliams, Steve Platt, Mary Louise Preis and Rachel Wohl.
Consistent with a commitment to involve other members of the Section on the
Section Council, the Committee is nominating Venetia Bell, Danny O’Connor,
Mark Scurti and Elizabeth Yarema for these 4 seats, which will be for 3-year
terms each under our By-Laws.
In addition, there are 3 other vacancies that need to be filled on the
Section Council for the coming year. These vacancies are the following:
- Council member Tom Lynch’s remaining 2 years in his term;
- Jonathan Rosenthal’s remaining 2 years in his term (if he is elected
Secretary); and,
- Trish Miller’s remaining 1 year of her term (if she is elected to
Section Council Vice Chair).
The Committee nominated the following Section members to fill these seats:
Doug Furlong (for Tom Lynch), Geoff Genth (for Jonathan Rosenthal) and Bill
Byrnes (for Trish Miller). Under ADR Section By-Laws, the vacancies of unexpired
terms are filled by vote of the Section Council, not the Section membership.
That vote was taken and those positions were filled with no dissenting votes.
Respectfully submitted,
Robert C. Park, Jr., Esquire,
Chair, Nominating Committee
