Defining Mediation Success
As
MACRO's mediator quality assurance project moves forward, one issue that
continues to surface is that of defining success in a mediation. Often
courts define success by the number of cases removed from the dockets.
Others may define success as client satisfaction or partial agreements.
How do you define a successful mediation session?
Complete agreement?
Narrowing issues, but no agreement?
Opening dialogue but no other forward progress?
Relationship improved because of a better understanding of each other?
Improved communication after this dispute?
Mediator acted appropriately and professionally?
