2011/2012 ANNUAL REPORT

This Section sponsored environmental law-related programs,one which included a keynote address given by the Secretary of the Maryland Department of the Environment. It also provided opportunities for its members to interact and network with colleagues during events such as its Annual Dinner and a service-oriented program. The Section sponsored a panel discussion with representatives from the MDE, EPA, the building industry, and the agricultural community on the Chesapeake Bay TMDL. It will co-sponsor a panel discussion with the Construction Law Section at the MSBA Annual Meeting.

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Section of Environmental Law is:

1. To bring together members of the Maryland State Bar Association interested in environmental law;
2. To promote the continuing legal education of the bar in environmental law;
3. To sponsor environmental law publications for the benefit of the bar and public; and
4. To work on a cooperative basis to improve the law and promote the interest of the public and members of the bar in environmental law.
