Family & Juvenile Law
Section Council Appointment Procedure
Family Law Section Council elects new Section
Council members based upon their efforts to contribute to Section Council
activities, their reputation with regard to family law practice, and their
willingness to attend a requisite number of meetings.
After serving on the Section and performing the
various duties asked of him or her, the Council member is usually asked to
serve a second term. If they can survive a second term and show an interest
in serving in leadership, the Election Committee, composed of the past-President,
President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary review the
potential nominees and make a recommendation to the entire Section. Following
that, formal voting occurs.
