Section Council Appointment Procedure

The Maryland State Bar Association Courthouse Identification Badge is available to any attorney who has been admitted to practice law in this state, who is currently a member of the bar in good standing, and who is currently certified by the Court of Appeals as an active practitioner.

Mentoring Program

The MSBA sponsors this program to assist newer, less experienced members of the bar. It provides a resource for attorneys to seek and receive advice or discuss concern about law office management, escrow accounts, procedural issues and many other topics.

Section Council Appointment Procedure

Family Law Section Council elects new Section Council members based upon their efforts to contribute to Section Council activities, their reputation with regard to family law practice, and their willingness to attend a requisite number of meetings.

After serving on the Section and performing the various duties asked of him or her, the Council member is usually asked to serve a second term. If they can survive a second term and show an interest in serving in leadership, the Election Committee, composed of the past-President, President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary review the potential nominees and make a recommendation to the entire Section. Following that, formal voting occurs.
