New Maryland Legislation, Effective July 1st Requires New Mandatory Procedures for Subpoenaing Medical Records

The Purposes of the Section are:

1. To bring together members of the MSBA interested in health law;

2. To promote the continuing legal education of the bar in health law;

3. To sponsor health law publications for the benefit of the bar and public; and

4. To work on a cooperative basis to improve the law and promote the interest of the public and members of the bar in health law

• DHHS Publishes Final HIPAA Enforcement Rule February 16, 2006

  Response to inquiry about a hospital's practice of refusing to honor an oral "do not resuscitate" (DNR) order issued by telephone from an attending physician who is not present at the hospital

• Phase II of the final Stark II regulations have been released.

• The OIG released the final version of the "Compliance Program for Individual and Small Group Physician Practices" on October 5, 2000. The Program is published in Vol. 65, No. 194 of the Federal Register beginning at page 59434.
