and Nancy Harrison
1. 2000-2001 Meeting Schedule: The October meeting will be held at
Chiaparelli's in Little Italy. Bar head quarters was not available. The meeting
date remains the same, October 16. The November meeting will be held at Bar
Headquarters on November 6. Other meeting dates are January 8, 2001; February
12, 2001; March 26, 2001 (out-reach); April 9, 2001 and May 21, 2001 (Kent
Manor Inn/golf).
2. Out Reach Meeting Program, Fall 2000: The plan was to have an outreach
at the new Workers' Compensation Commission headquarters in November. However,
it doesn not appear the WCC is going to be moved in until somewhat later. The
program will be rescheduled.
3. Out Reach Meeting Program, Spring 2001: The plan is to have a "Pitfalls" type
program similar to that presented at the Annual meeting, but with a smaller
panel. There was discussion of imposing a small charge to assure attendance
of those who RSVP, perhaps $10 for section members and $15 for non-members,
which might also encourage non-members to sign up for the section.
4. Newsletter: Michael Steinhardt will produce a section newsletter.
Please submit any articles or ideas to him. The deadline for the next newsletter
is November 1.
5. Legislation/Legislative subcommittee: There is little activity in
this area as yet. Chair Ray Hertz and Michael Steinhardt will chair this subcommittee.
10. Future Programs: The Chair reported interest from the Section in
a program on liens and it has been suggested that we try to plan that for next
year with M.I.C.P.E.L.
11. New Business: a. SIP Fund: The SIP fund will be treated
as a contingency fund for pay for budget shortages (for meals). Alcoholic beverages
at meetings will be on a "pay as you go" basis. Non-alcoholic beverages
will be paid on the overall bill. If you have not paid your SIP fee, please
mail to Ray Hertz ($30). b. Fees: The MTLA has brought up the issue
of fees at the Workers' Compensation Commission, particularly at the upper
end. Fees have not been increased in a number of years. Commissioner Teitel
pointed out that fee petitions can ask for a fee in excess of that provided
by the guidelines, and when submitted are often approved.
The meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:30 p.m. Section Council members
are reminded of the next Section Council meeting October 16, at Chiaparelli's
Restaurant in Baltimore (Little Italy).
