The October meeting was held at Piccolo's in Columbia. It has
been determined that Russ Bennett is more or less retired and will not be attending
any Section Counsel meetings. It was agreed that Don Benter will invite Jimmy
O'Conner to the November meeting as a potential replacement for Russ.
There was a rather free ranging discussion regarding the use of the Bar Association
Web Site for the use of our Section. One of the ideas was to create a discussion
group among the Section where people could share and ask questions regarding
issues that come up in practice. This could even be done anonymously. Another
potential use would be to have Section members report verdicts by type of case
and injury that over time will build up a significant database. Most MSBA members
can already get Bar Briefs and we could just highlight cases of interest to
our members so that they could access them through the Bar Briefs. There will
be more discussion about this at the November meeting.
