Section Council Meeting Minutes
December 2, 2002
Meeting was held in Baltimore 6:00pm at the Chipparelli’s
Present at the meeting were Nancy Harrison, Chair, Ben Boscolo, Chair-Elect
Frank L Lipshultz Secretary, Richard Teitel, Ted Cornblatt, Wallace Kleid,
Mike Steinhardt, Ray Hertz, Amy Glaser, Monica Meyers Turnbo, Honorable Kennedy
Boone, Don Benter, Lee Gordon, Ray Hertz, Michael Schreyer.
A. Old Business/Minutes
Welcome new members - Mark Vincent as the Commission representative, Amy
Glaser, Monica Meyers Turnbo
Minutes of the October meeting were read and approved as submitted.
B. Communications (Newsletters, MSBA Pamphlets, etc.)
Newsletter to be prepared by Ben Boscolo who will provide dates and deadlines.
Jury Instructions Nancy Harrison and Frank L Lipshultz will be working on
supplementing the pattern jury instructions for Workers Compensation they
will meet in March or May
C. Legislation None at this time.
D. Programs
1. MICPEL Hot Tips is on April 4, 2003 in Columbia Maryland.
2. Annual MSBA meeting in June is being coordinated by Ray Hertz, Agnes Powell
to be held in June.
3. The March section program will be held in Columbia and the topic will
be examination at trial of an accident reconstruction expert. Direct and
Cross Examinations to be conducted by experienced litigators. Ray Hertz will
contact Chuck Pemberton and Bob Michaels. Frank L Lipshultz to secured John
Hone as defense counsel tentative date set for March 10, 2003 in Columbia,
Maryland at the Sheraton Hotel. Frank L Lipshultz will secure judges one
from the Circuit Court and one from District Court.
4. The June MSBA meeting is tentative of presenting proposed jury instructions
with a circuit court judge.
E. New Business
An announcement will be coming from the Workers Compensation Commission
that there may be an interpreter day to conform to Maryland Law.
The new attorney fee guide for the Workers Compensation Commission has been
referred to the Oversight Committee for their input.
F. Meeting Schedule
Next Meeting, to be determined (was later set for January 22, 2003 at the
Far East in Rockville).
March meeting to be conducted after the presentation regarding accident reconstruction.
May meeting May 5, 2003 Kent Manor Inn.
