  1. Communications

    1. Newsletter
The Section Council would like us to do a Newsletter and Ben requested that all members contribute 1-2 paragraphs in the fall for the newsletter. The due date for those items will be November 15, 2003. In the spring, the newsletter will provide a legislative update and significant cases.

    2. Jury Instructions
It was decided that we would wait until the legislative session before redoing the jury instructions.

  2. Legislation

    1. Buzz Winchester will keep us apprised of developments and it was mentioned that AI legislation would be reintroduced. Our thoughts as a Committee on the issue are expected to be viewed as valuable and if anyone would like to address the legislature on the issue, please let Ben know. Commissioner Adams informed us that the Commission is not taking a position on Harris to the legislature.

  3. Programs

The whole schedule (to be recited below was reviewed) and certain events discussed in more detail.

    1. Annual Meeting and Outreach

Ben is going in June and was thinking about the topic of closed head injuries. Nancy suggested using this topic for an outreach activity instead, so we could draw liability people in addition to comp. attorneys. Everyone agreed that the topic was a good one and experts could discuss mild traumatic brain injury, etc. Ben said that we then need a topic for the Annual Meeting and the use of pharmaceuticals in pain management was proposed. Commissioner Adams suggested Kathleen Fink from NRH a speaker on the topic and Frank suggested someone from York. Members also discussed having all those who attend the Outreach event join the section as members.

    2. MICPEL

Ted will be taking charge of this event (Hot Tips), with assistance from Ray.
