2010/2011 ANNUAL REPORT:

This Section celebrated its 25th Anniversary this year and increased its membership for the 13th consecutive year, maintaining its status as the fi fth-largest MSBA Section. It sponsored two “Hanging Out a Shingle” programs and held its 12th Annual Solo and Small Firm Conference in November at the BWI Hilton. The Section produced fi ve legal-specific sessions in conjunction with the new MSBA CLE Department, videotaping the programs and making them available online. It will co-sponsor, in conjunction with the Negligence, Insurance & Workers’ Compensation Section, the 11th Annual Solo Day at the MSBA Annual Meeting.

PURPOSES

The purpose of this Section is to promote the solo and small firm practice of law and undertake such other and diverse activities authorized from time to time by the Association or the Officers and Council of the Section as shall enhance the competence and skills of solo and small firm practitioners, and improve their ability to deliver the most efficient and highest quality legal services to their clients. The activities of this Section are designed also to enhance the role of solo and small firm practitioners as contributing members and leaders of their communities, the legal profession and the Association.
