2011/2012 ANNUAL REPORT:

This Section sponsored two “Hanging Out a Shingle” programs and held its 13th Annual Solo and Small Firm Conference in November at the BWI Hilton. It authored several practice management-specific articles for the May/ June 2012 Maryland Bar Journal and also produced a webinar on Personnel Issues for Solo and Small Firm Practitioners. The Section also celebrated its 26th anniversary and increased its membership for the 14th consecutive year. It will co-sponsor, in conjunction with the Negligence, Insurance & Workers’ Compensation Section, the 12th Annual Solo Day at the MSBA Annual Meeting.


PURPOSES

The purpose of this Section is to promote the solo and small firm practice of law and undertake such other and diverse activities authorized from time to time by the Association or the Officers and Council of the Section as shall enhance the competence and skills of solo and small firm practitioners, and improve their ability to deliver the most efficient and highest quality legal services to their clients. The activities of this Section are designed also to enhance the role of solo and small firm practitioners as contributing members and leaders of their communities, the legal profession and the Association.
