State & Local Government
2011/2012 ANNUAL REPORT:
|
The Section continued to review and share concerns regarding legislation that may impact state, county, and municipal governments. It also continued to actively explore collaborations with other organizations comprised of counsel
for governing bodies in order to develop a process for sharing concerns regarding proposed regulations at every level. The Section carried on its work providing opportunities for state and local government attorneys to share experiences through virtual conferences and live meetings. |
PURPOSES |
The purposes of the Section are to provide a common meeting ground and
impartial forum for those members of the Bar who are engaged in dealing with problems of
state and local government in any capacity, whether as attorneys for units of state,
county or municipal government, as attorneys in private practice, as law teachers, as
students, or otherwise; to further a better understanding of the law relating to municipal
corporations and other public bodies through the holding of meetings, the making of
studies, surveys and analyses, and the dissemination of current information concerning
legislation and judicial decisions; to formulate and submit to the members of the Section
and the Association, such reports and recommendations as may be deemed useful to the
profession and advisable in the public interest; and to further the public interest as the
prime factor in the development of state and local government law.
