Volunteers Needed For IRS Grant Program
The Tax Section needs volunteers for a new project
cosponsored by the Tax Section, MVLS (Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service),
the University of Baltimore Law School, and the University of Maryland Law
School, to assist low income taxpayers in their disputes with the Internal
Revenue Service and in Tax Court cases. The IRS is providing grant money
to MVLS and the law schools to fund the administration of this project,
but attorneys are desperately needed to take incoming cases on a pro bono
basis. Although attorneys experienced in disputes with the IRS are
welcome, prior experience in handling these matters is not a prerequisite
to taking a case. Training and professional assistance are available. If
you are interested in volunteering, please contact the MVLS at
410-547-6537 or by e-mail at MVLS@erols.com
or contact Richard Chisholm, IRS Grant Program Chair for the Tax Section,
at 301-986-2200 or by e-mail at rchish@erols.com.
