The Young Lawyers Section is accepting donations of new and gently used books appropriate for children in grades K-5.  All books will be donated to a Baltimore City Elementary School that does not have the resources to fully fund a school library.
Please send the books to MSBA Young Lawyers Section Book Drive, Attn: Angela Munro, 520 W. Fayette St, Baltimore, MD 21201.
If you have any questions, please contact Elizabeth Morris at emorris@dllr.state.md.us

WE THE JURY

The YLS is proud to announce its participation in the WE THE JURY Program developed by the Texas Young Lawyer’s and adopted last year by the ABA Young Lawyer’s Division. WE THE JURY is an educational program designed for high school students to educate them on the history and importance of the jury system. Lawyers come into the classroom to conduct a mock voir dire and then guide the students through mock jury service by using videos provided by the ABA.

We need volunteers willing to give up a few hours to go into classrooms, and we encourage all interested parties to contact us, so that we can place you with a school in your jurisdiction. We’ll give you everything you need, so you won’t really need to prepare. It’s very low impact, and a lot of fun. To sign up or for further information, contact Kendall Butterworth, kendall.butterworth@bellsouth.com or (404) 249-3388. For more information about the program, see http://www.abanet.org/yld/wethejury/home.html
