Gretchen Slater, Andrew Schwartz, and Caryn Siegel Wetmore,
Circuit Representatives

Montgomery County

The Bar Association of Montgomery County’s “New Practitioner’s Section” had an amazing 2011 year and is looking forward to the same in 2012.

The Section has many exciting programs coming up.  On January 24, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., the Section will participate in a community service project in conjunction with the Community Outreach Committee at MANNA in Rockville, Maryland, an organization which provides food to people in need.

Each month, the Section holds a “Nuts and Bolts” program to educate young lawyers on the basics of different areas of the law.  The first program in 2012 will be “Nuts and Bolts of Litigating DUI Cases” which will be presented on January 31, 2012 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the main conference room of the Bar Building.  Additionally, each month the Section sponsors a Chambers Chat with an esteemed member of the local Bench.  On January 26, 2012, the Chambers Chat will take place in the Cambers of the Honorable Nelson W. Rupp, Jr., starting at 12:30 p.m.  All members of the Bar are encouraged to attend.

Finally, the Section sponsors the ongoing Mentor/Mentee program which pairs younger lawyers with more experienced practitioners.  All attorneys are invited to participate.

The Section is looking forward to another successful year.  If there are any questions about the above-listed programs, please contact Gretchen Slater at or visit the Bar Association of Montgomery County’s website at

Frederick County

The Bar Association of Frederick County’s Young Lawyers Section (“BAFC YLS”) has had a busy winter!  Several new faces have joined the Young Lawyers’ Section and are stepping up to make 2012 a great and busy year.  In 2012, BAFC YLS will resume its Lunch with the Judges Series.  We will also sponsor our first “speed networking” event—an event focused on giving attorneys in Frederick the opportunity to meet attorneys they might not otherwise get a chance to meet.  2012 promises to be an exciting and eventful year for the BAFC YLS, so stay tuned!
