2016/2017 Annual Report:

This Committee interviewed and evaluated applicants for judicial vacancies at trial and appellate levels throughout the State. It is authorized, pursuant to the MSBA’s bylaws, to advise the Judicial Nominating Commissions and the Governor that it finds an applicant for judicial appointment is “highly recommended”, “recommended”, “not recommended”, “not recommended at this time”, or that the Committee has “insufficient information” to form an opinion as to the applicant’s qualifications; its recommendations apply to any future applications for the same judicial position within eighteen (18) months from the interview date. The Committee also reviewed the questionnaires of applicants, interviewed the applicants, and contacted references and other members of the legal community before voting on the qualifications of each applicant.
