Bearing Witness to Our Clients’ Trauma: Doing Our Jobs AND Taking Care of Ourselves

Description

Join the MSBA for a new livestream presentation of Bearing Witness to Our Clients’ Trauma: Doing Our Jobs AND Taking Care of Ourselves on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at 12 p.m.

One study concluded that 78% of lawyers suffer from compassion fatigue and another reported that 75% suffer from vicarious trauma. This program will use clips from the movie “Just Mercy”, and a moderated panel discussion to provide lawyers with an overview of the risks associated with practicing law. The panel will cover topics such as secondary traumatic stress, vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and burnout. Insights on the role of self-care to mitigate risk factors, including the ethical considerations for prioritizing lawyer self-care, will also be discussed. We will focus on practical tools and strategies that lawyers can use personally and professionally.

One hour of CLE credit will be offered by the surrounding MCLE states and if you can’t attend the livestream program, it will be available on-demand on our MSBA CLE catalog
