Coffee and Conversation with Legislators: Sen. Brian Feldman

The MSBA monitors hundreds of bills each session and advocates on behalf of the profession. The ability to make a difference in Annapolis is just one of the many reasons we need all attorneys to belong to the MSBA to ensure we remain a strong and vibrant association.

Please join the MSBA as we welcome Brian Feldman, a Democratic state senator from Maryland’s 15th District (D – Montgomery County). He’ll provide an update on this year’s legislative session, his personal and professional background and road to Annapolis, and how to stay involved and connect with legislators.

Brian is the Vice Chair of the Senate Finance Committee and chairs its Energy and Public Utilities Subcommittee. Additionally, he is the Senate Chair of the Maryland Health Insurance Coverage Protection Commission and serves as a member of the Executive Nominations Committee and the Joint Committee on Legislative Ethics. He is also a member of the Maryland Economic Development Commission.

As the only Attorney/CPA in the Maryland General Assembly, Senator Feldman practices law outside the legislature, specializing in tax litigation and tax controversies. He was previously employed by PriceWaterhouse and the U.S. Department of Justice, Tax Division, where he was a three-time recipient of the Justice Department’s prestigious “Outstanding Attorney Award.” At present, Brian is an adjunct professor at Johns Hopkins, teaching graduate courses on state policy making and federalism, and at the University of Maryland, College Park, teaching a graduate course on Health Care Policy.

We welcome all legal professionals to join, particularly those in Montgomery County.
