The speakers will address the impact of recent legislation on the practice of family law, including no-fault divorce, spousal sexual assault and child abduction. They will also discuss the most recent appellate cases impacting family law, including alimony, marital property/monetary awards, dissipation, tracing, business valuation, bigamy/annulment and laches, child custody, de facto parenthood and legal parents’ consent, third-party custody and awarding custody to a parent who murdered the other parent, doctrine of parent-child immunity, contempt, post-nuptial agreements and “lump sum” penalty provisions, attorneys’ fees, appeals, as well as other issues.
