This program will present new family law cases, rules, and legislative updates from the past 12 months. The speakers will discuss the most recent appellate cases regarding family law practice area, including such topics as child custody, child support, pensions, 529 college accounts, marital property/monetary awards, dissipation, contribution, appellate acquiescence rule, alimony, attorneys’ fees and costs, MDEC/Case Search/entry of judgment, venue, personal jurisdiction, sufficiency of pleadings, enforceability of religious/Islamic marriage contracts (mahr), enforcement issues, attorneys’ liens, as well as evidentiary issues. They will also address the impact of recent Rules (e.g., Parenting Plans) and legislation (e.g., shared custody child support guidelines revisions) on the practice of family law.
