Inside-Out Security: Data Loss Prevention as the New Security Frontier
Dale Tuttle

Cyber-security has always focused on preventing intruders from getting into your systems from the outside. First and foremost, IT departments are traditionally focused (probably obsessed) on keeping the bad guys out (think of all the Ransomware attacks in the news).  While that is a constant and legitimate worry, it is also important to remember you have to protect and control the data and content you already have (known as data loss prevention). Both the accidental and intentional loss of data and content originating from inside your organization is an under-appreciated security issue for most firms. In this session you’ll learn why data loss prevention is so important and how to take practical steps to implement data loss prevention measures at your firm. This will include an overview of some of the latest business tools to improve the control and security of your firm’s data and content.

E-Discovery 2020: We Have New Collaboration Tools and “Internet of Things” Devices – But the Same Discovery Rules Still Apply (and they apply to celebrities as well!)
Diane Kilcoyne
  • From Prince’s estate, to Tom Brady, to members of Lynyrd Skynyrd, the courts are not forgiving electronic evidence destruction; rather they are making it (purple) rain sanctions.
  • Email is not yet going the way of the dodo, but the new third-party communication tools such as Slack and Microsoft Teams are becoming the most common way for employees to communicate.  Learn what you need to know about preserving and discovery of these types of data.

Ethical Billing: How to Bill without Getting Burned
Erin McCartney

One of the many challenges in law firm management is legal billing. Clients can avoid or delay paying legal bills for a number of reasons. Clients may disagree with the amount charged or may be confused about the billing agreement or the work performed. That is why it is important to implement client centric billing processes, which can also help avoid potential fee disputes down the road. Join speaker Erin McCartney, J.D. while she discusses legal billing tips that can help your firm establish more efficient and client-friendly billing practices.
