Matt will discuss some hot-button issues in Takings jurisprudence, the new Supreme Court’s orientation on those issues, and the implications of an aggrandized Takings Clause for state and local policies in land use and other areas.
Matt Littleton is a partner at Donahue, Goldberg, Weaver & Littleton, a D.C.-based litigation firm with a national practice focused on public-interest appellate representation. He regularly represents state and local governments and their interests before the U.S. Supreme Court and courts of appeals in cases concerning the Takings Clause of the Fifth Amendment. Before joining the firm in 2018, Matt spent several years litigating Takings and other land and natural-resources cases for the U.S. Department of Justice. He is a 2010 graduate of Harvard Law School and the John F. Kennedy School of Government, a teacher in a former life, and spent his formative years in the Northern Neck of Virginia on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay.
