Implicit Bias in the courtroom, workplace, and beyond, Part 2

Implicit Bias refers to the attitudes or stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions, and decisions in an unconscious manner.

Unconscious bias—everyone has it. This program is designed to elucidate how to recognize it and lessen its impact in the courtroom, workplace and networking events.

Panelists:

April Frazier Camara: April is the Director of Defender Legal Services Initiatives, which advances NLADA’s goals and priorities through strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing public defense. She received a B.A. from Tennessee State University and a J.D. from Howard University.

Dean Russell McClain: Law School Associate Professor and Associate Dean Russell McClain graduated Order of the Coif from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1995. He was a civil litigator in Los Angeles, California prior to beginning teaching at Howard University School of Law and subsequently the University of Maryland School of Law, where he received a full-time appointment to the faculty and in 2016, was promoted to associate professor, and Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion.  He also is a member of the President’s Diversity Advisory Council of the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
