Join the MSBA for the 2024 Legal Summit Series: Project HEAL (Health, Education, Advocacy, and Law) at Kennedy Krieger Institute: Demonstrating the Value of Medical-Legal Partnerships on Wednesday, July 31st at 11 a.m.

The presenters will review the history of Project HEAL, and provide an overview of Project HEAL's services. Project HEAL attorneys provide representation in civil legal matters and limited representation (e.g., brief advice, document review, referrals, information, and resources) to Kennedy Krieger patients and their families. Additionally, they provide technical assistance to Kennedy Krieger faculty, staff, and trainees via case consultations. Throughout its eighteen years of service, Project HEAL has hosted 184 trainees from fields of study including, but not limited to, law, education, public health, psychology, social work, and family science. Members of the Project HEAL team regularly conduct professional and community-based trainings on topics such as special education law, discipline of children with disabilities, bullying, harassment, and intimidation of children with disabilities, and guardianship and less restrictive alternatives.

The presenters will also discuss capacity building opportunities for the creation and expansion of the MLP model in other organizations, and review additional best practices derived from the work of other MLPs, such as the The Medical-Legal Partnership for Children operated through the Boston University School of Medicine.

Presented by Mallory Legg & Maureen van Stone, Kennedy Krieger Institute.

One hour credit will be offered for the surrounding MCLE states of Virginia, Delaware and Pennsylvania. If you’re unable to attend the virtual program, the entire event will be recorded and available to you to view later.
