A few thoughts from Team MSBA
Welcome to the Section Email Discussion Lists. We have transitioned Member Sections from MSBA Engage to this new platform because it offers you a simpler, more user-friendly experience. You can reach your fellow Section Members by simply sending an email to your community’s email address—no logging in required.

What has changed?
MSBA has launched a new Section Email Discussion Lists for peer to peer messaging among Section Members. The new lists replaced MSBA Engage.
Why did we switch to the Section Email Discussion Lists?
We received significant member feedback on our former platform, MSBA Engage. Members asked for a more traditional email list instead of the web platform. This change directly responds to member requests for a simpler, user-friendly tool that can be accessed directly via email.
How is this different from Engage?
Unlike Engage, the Section Email Discussion Lists are entirely email-based, and do not require website access to use certain features like accessing attachments.
When is my Section getting the new section email discussion list?
All MSBA Section have the lists as of January 1, 2026.
Which Discussion Lists can I access?
You can access the discussion lists for the sections of which you are a member. If you would like to become a section member in order to access a list please contact [email protected]. Reminder: Two sections are included in your membership.
How do I send an email to my Section Email Discussion List?
To email the list, please use the email address listed in your MSBA Member Profile (signin required). You can find the specific address for your section under 'Individual list membership' here (signin required).
Do emails require approval before they are sent to the full Email Discussion List?
While we don’t typically require approval for list emails, 'unsubscribe' requests sent to the entire list can be disruptive. To keep list discussions focused on the practice of law, we place the list on a temporary pre-approval protocol to prevent further off-topic messages. You can unsubscribe by clicking Unsubscribe here. (signin required).
How do I reply to an email from my Section Email Discussion List?
Your email reply function will send your email back to the entire Email Discussion List. If you want to send an email only to the individual sender, you can start a new email thread or replace the Email Discussion List email with the senders email from their signature block or “from/sender information” block.
How will I know if my email actually made it to my Section Email Discussion List?
For most users, you will receive a copy of your own email, but give it a few minutes. Gmail users won't see the copy in their inbox because of how Google handles it. If you need to confirm it went through, check the list archives — if it's there, your email was successfully delivered.
Why didn’t my email send to the Email Discussion List?
There are a couple of reasons why your email may not be working.
Can I crosspost to multiple lists?
Yes, if you are a member of the lists you to which you want to crosspost. We ask that you crosspost judiciously to reduce email volume to recipients.
Can I send attachments to the list?
Yes. Email attachments up to 30MB are supported by the new platform.
I'm in multiple sections. How will I know which section is sending a message?
Emails from each section have an identifier on the email subject line. You can also look at the email address from which the email was sent. That address will also identify the section.
Can I send an anonymous email to the discussion list?
Unfortunately, the lists aren't technically set up to allow for anonymous individual senders. We’ve always required sender transparency on the lists to protect the integrity of the group and avoid any accidental disclosures to opposing parties.
How do I unsubscribe from a list?
Clicking Unsubscribe here (signin required).
Can I search old emails?
Yes. List discussions are archived and searchable so you can easily review past discussions.
Where is the list archive?
Visit https://msba.org/site/content/Section-Email-Contact.aspx and follow the instructions to login and view the archives for all lists of which you are a member.
Can I choose the Daily Digest for some section email discussion lists and individual emails for others?
If I'm in multiple sections but only want the daily digest, will I get one big digest or multiple separate ones?
You'll get a separate digest from each section. You will not get a digest, however, if there is no activity on the Section list on any particular day.
How do I unsubscribe?
Who do I contact for help?
Please do not email the Section Email Discussion Lists for assistance with email frequency or other issues. If you need help with any aspect of the Section list, please email [email protected].
